Traveling makes a man wiser. For me traveling represents a part of my life. I've visited mostly Russia - Rostov-na-Donu, Tatarstan, Kazan, Belgorod, then the Ukraine and Romania. I agree these all are very beautiful and original, however when I visited Cyprus, namely Nicosia, all what I have seen seemed so small. No! I don't wanna say it became not interesting, But Greece is a totally another culture and everything seems different here. Unfortunately I didn't get any photos yet, that's why I leave some photos of other people, but let me try to describe you as closely as possible. Nicosia is the capital o the Cyprus and the largest city of it. It is located on the Pedieos river and situated in the centre of the island. Being a country of 2 strong cultures - Greek (the South) and Turkish (the North), it is devided by the "Green Line", a demilitarized zone maintained by the United Nations. Let me better tell you about its interesting places. The first site we've seen was the old walled city of Nicosia. It is unique and definitely the place to head for first. Encircled by strong fortress walls built by the Venetians in the 16th century, the enchanting old city is scattered with buildings and monuments of historical interest as well as little shops, cafes and tavernas. It took us in the century of narrow streets and old houses with ornate balconies jut from weather beaten sandstone walls, smell of jasmine flowers in those long summer evenings. Nicosia is also well-known for its museums and the one we have been is the Cyprus museum, of course about all connected to this identity. What I really would like to advise you is to visit it no matter how it will cost to you. Good luck! You can bookmark this, digg this or check the cosmos.
Chans, 16.09.06:I've never been to Cyprus but maybe some day I will. I love to travel and see the culture in different countries. Holiday on Ice though is a show about ice skating. It comes to the city every year but I'm always late buying tickets. Not this year though, I finally get to see it. Goodwitch, 23.09.06:Ahhhhh...Greece...is at the top of my list of places I want to travel. It is a land that seems to call me by name. Perhaps when I go there, it will feel so much like home that I'll only need a one-way ticket! Add your comment: |
